About Us
2025 Teams
As this is our founding year, we are building only one travel team (11U/12U – Must be no older than age 11 as of 08/01/2024) for this season but hope to add more teams in successive seasons.
Training & Development
The coaches of the SD Airborne Elite team are fortunate to have relationships with a number of high-level trainers and coaches who will offer specialized position-specific training periodically throughout our inaugural 7v7 season. Our practices and training environment will provide an opportunity to be privately trained by QB, WR and DB coaches who have established themselves as some of the best in the Southern California area. We run real routes, real concepts, real coverages and real game situations to transfer back to 11-man football. This is not flag or playground football.
Practice, Travel, Tournaments & Schedules
SD Airborne Elite Tryouts – We will not have an open call tryout to join our team. Instead, we will accept 2024 highlights and recommendations from a player’s 2024 Pop Warner or AYF Coach to ensure our pool of potential players have the football IQ necessary to compete with a number of players already committed to our team for the 2025 7v7 season. Upon a review of the submitted highlights by our coaches or subsequent to conferring with the coach making the recommendation, a candidate will be invited to our first practice on November 23rd.
SD Airborne Elite Practice – Practice will be held at local high schools twice per week on Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 8pm and Sunday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm. We are only accepting new players after a submission of highlights and an evaluation to an invite only practice.
SD Airborne Elite Travel – We intend on participating in three different national circuits (RedZone Elite, Shock Doctor 7v7 Series, and Passing Down 7on7), as well as local tournaments (such as Pylon and Gladiator).
FAQs
What is the cost to play SD Airborne Elite 7v7?
There will be no cost for any of the players, as our not-for-profit organization has been built to cover the cost of field rental, tournament registration fees, uniforms, insurance costs, and travel costs for the players to tournaments outside Southern California.
SD Airborne Elite will also cover the cost for team highlight reels for each tournament.
How many players will be taken on each team?
We will roster 2 QB’s and approximately 16-18 players.
Who covers the cost for flights, hotel and expenses for the National Team?
SDAE will cover the cost of flights, hotel and meals for the players and ONE (1) chaperone parent per travel event. As coaches and donors, we understand that youth sports are particularly expensive for parents. Our goal is to provide a level playing field for committed athletes, such that training and exposure are not limited due to a family’s means but only to a player’s commitment to the sport. We expect a commitment to the SDAE team to supersede any other athletic commitment during the 7v7 season. To the extent that a player cannot commit , we understand and would recommend joining another program.
Where are practices located and how often do we practice?
Teams will practice at a local San Diego High School.
We played for another program in the past. Can athletes play on both teams when the other is not playing in a tournament?
NO. Given the investment the organization will make in the athlete, the only cost for a player and his family, is a full commitment to the team.
What gear is involved?
We will have a minimum of two different jerseys and short combinations during the season for various tournaments and league play. We are putting together the swag package for each player. We have just begun conversations with corporate sponsors but our expectation is that the more win the more gear we will receive.
What if I have basketball, baseball, or lacrosse practice and games all winter and can’t make many of the SDAE practices and will miss some games?
Unfortunately, we will NOT take on athletes on the SD Airborne Elite Travel Team who play sports that get in the way of 7v7. We understand you play other sports, and we support that. But we also need athletes who can commit to this program for games and tournaments.
